Air to Air Intercooler

An air-to-air intercooler is a type of heat exchanger that cools compressed intake air using ambient outside air before it enters a turbocharged diesel engine.

How It Works:

  • Turbo compresses intake air → air gets hot.
  • Hot charged air flows into the intercooler core.
  • Ambient air passes across the intercooler external fins from vehicle motion.
  • Heat exchange occurs through the aluminum tubes and fins.
  • Cooler, denser air exits the intercooler core and enters the engine.

No coolant, no pump, just airflow and heat exchange.

Dura-Lite Evolution® air-to-air intercoolers are durable, heavy-duty intercoolers designed for turbocharged diesel trucks. Dura-Lite intercoolers are typically used on large diesel engines in heavy trucks such as Peterbilt and Kenworth models, where robust cooling and reliability are critical under long-haul and high-load conditions.
